Fundraiser information was sent home today

• September 29:  Students take home packets and share them with parents.  Parents will decide if they are going to participate in this PTO fundraiser.  The money collected goes toward supports for all students at Van Allen Elementary.  Most of the raised money goes into supporting field trips for students and supporting our library, art, and music programs. Students should not sale door to door or sale to strangers.  Payment is due at the time the order is placed. Orders can also be placed on-line.  Some parents choose to make a direct donation to the PTO instead of participating in the fundraiser.  All supports are greatly appreciated.  Students have a chance to win prizes while the help our school.  

• All checks need to be made to Van Allen PTO.
  End Date!  Sale ends on Monday September 15!
  Pick-up Day! Wednesday October 22 from 3:30 to 6:00pm!
  Limo Ride is currently scheduled for September 30^th.

Gold out on Friday for Austin Schroeder

See note below from Jen Secrist:

Good morning,
This Friday West High School Dance Marathon is hosting their second annual gold out football game against Cedar Rapids Kennedy.  Both schools come together outside the white lines of the football field to fight against pediatric cancer.  This year our honorary captain will be Austin Schroeder.  Austin and his family will be presented on the field prior to the varsity game.
 If possible, could you make an announcement to your school of this event, inviting students to join together to support Austin and his battle against cancer.
 The sophomore game begins at 5:30, the varsity game will begin close to 7:30.  Austin will receive honors estimated around 7 PM.  Gold shirts are being sold at the football game with all proceeds going to support families at the University of Iowa battling pediatric cancer.  In addition there will be a balloon release at the conclusion of the national anthem prior to the varsity game.  Gold balloons may be purchased at the game for this event.

Back to School Pool Party

Here is the schedule for the “Banking on a Great School Year” Back to School Pool Parties at the Coralville Community Aquatic Center:

August 19            Coralville Central

August 20            Kirkwood & Kate Wickham

August 21           Borlaug & Van Allen

All events will be from 5:30 – 7:00 pm.  Concessions will be available for purchase.

Students, staff, and families are welcome to attend.

Our sponsors are Hills Bank, Veridian Credit Union, and UICCU.
